Back to High School days - Part I

It feels great to be back home after a wonderful year abroad. And whats more I won't miss High School anymore - at least for an year.  Yeah I know I didn't study at High School in IIT, but the  IIT Bombay administration makes sure that we don't grow up. Just like another college kid I was in hurry for a Lecture and thought elevator would be the fastest way to reach 3rd floor until someone decided that :
Students are not allowed to use elevators.
While just like School principal they didn't feel need to communicate the reasons, I can forsee the possible security reason : Kids aren't allowed to use elevators unless under adult supervision. I have already ordered formal shirts and trousers (with belt)!
Students are not allowed to enter institute after consuming alcohol.
Although it will be too much to expect IIT to allow pubs in campus (yes IIT is world class university and other world class universities have subsidized clubs - but Indian society is too conservative to allow it), but how on the earth they don't expect 21 year old mature men/women to drink. You got it right even beer isn't allowed. As if its a matter of national security  the head of IIT security makes sure that they do breath testing of everyone entering institute. Did I tell you the consequences of violating the golden rule?
(1) $100 as monetary fine.
(2) Informing your parents of the crime you committed.
(3) Plus possible disciplinary actions.
Academic cheating is dealt leniently in comparison to alcohol consumption. Sometimes I wonder if my parents sent me to correctional facility to deal with my alcohol consumption.
Students are not allowed to walk together with opposite sex partners (and hopefully with LGBT recognition everyone will have to walk alone) .
Oh don't even think about having sex or kissing on lake side. Well we are high school kids and immature to take decisions about our sex lives or choosing our life partners. Even the law allows 21 year old men/women to engage in consensual sex. If the reason for disallowing kissing in public areas is indecency then we are completely wrong while thrashing Middle east for being conservative. Whats even worse is that even PhD students (most of them are married) can't share intimate moments on lake side - and lets not talk about size of IIT rooms and your privacy when two rooms share a wooden partition.
Extras :
(1) I should inform you that in just one week I have learnt everything I was supposed to in this semester. Well if I didn't, blame the administration as my profs were supposed to teach everything in the first week of classes.
(2) I just noticed that the gap between first day of registration and last day of registration have been reduced further for the coming semester.
